Mushrooms, the fruiting bodies of fungi, come in a variety of forms and play diverse roles in our ecosystems. Most familiar is the process of decay, which recycles nutrients from one generation of plants and other organisms to the next. Some fungi provide nutrients and water to the roots of plants. Others help regulate numbers of insects. Southern Ontario is well-known for its high diversity of fungi.

Come on a brief exploration of fungi with mushroom biologist Dr. Greg Thorn. The event will be held in the riparian forest along the Deshkan Ziibi, or Thames River, at Newport Forest, near Wardsville, ON.
