Nature for Nurture Bus Trips

Please join TTLT and CHMA Middlesex for fall bus trips to TTLT properties, part of a new partnership for Nature for Nurture. For more information about this program, please click here.

The field trips will be more of a rugged experience than the Mood Walks at Westminster Ponds. Some of the trails are uneven and may be hilly. We may also go off-trail for some of the activities. However, we will take a slow pace and activites are designed for all ability levels. If you have any concerns about the level of difficulty please feel free to get in touch - we'll be happy to discuss your concerns.

September 19th: Bus trip to Wardsville Woods

Take part in a guided hike at Wardsville Woods followed by seed collection and gardening in the community wildflower garden. Learn about native plants and seeds, and take some seeds home for your own garden.

October 3rd: Bus trip to Hawk Cliff Woods

Take part in a guided hike at Hawk Cliff Woods followed by a vegetation monitoring activity in the restored meadow. Learn about native plants and restoration - no prior knowledge required.

October 17th: Bus trip to Five Points Forest

Take part in a guided hike at Five Points Forest and help us remove invasive buckthorn seedlings to protect the forest habitat.

November 7th: Bus trip to Joany's Woods

Take part in a guided hike at Joany's Woods and help us control invasive Autumn Olive shrubs by collecting the berries and cutting the shrubs. The edible berries will later be used for making jelly, and removing the berries also stops the seeds from being spread.

Times and Meeting Place

Buses will depart from Westminster Ponds at 9:30am and return back to Westminster Ponds by 1:30pm.

If driving, meet outside the TTLT office at 944 Western Counties Road. Free parking is available. If talking the bus, meet at the Parkwood Mental Health Building entrance at 9:10am and we will walk up together.

What to Bring

Please wear good shoes for walking and make sure to dress for the weather (dressing in layers, bring a raincoat just in case). Bring a water bottle and a lunch. Other useful items include sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, and a hat.

TTLT will provide any necessary equipment, including work gloves. We will also bring snacks and extra water for refilling your water bottle.
