Nature for Nurture is a free program offered in partnership with CMHA Middlesex. It aims to improve the wellbeing of both people and the environment!

Fall 2018 Schedule

Please wear comfortable shoes for hiking (hiking shoes, athletic shoes etc.) and dress for the weather, especially with the colder weather arriving – try to bring hat, mitts and layers in case.

Remember to bring a water bottle!

September/ October – Westminster Ponds

Meeting Spot: 550 Wellington Road South – Meet in front of the Mental Health Building. There is a bus that arrives to the entrance at 11:05 so we will begin hike once the bus arrives. If you are driving, there is free parking on Western Counties road behind Parkwood.

Times: 11:00-12:00 pm

September Dates: 11TH, 18TH, & 25TH ** No Group September 4th **

October Dates: 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th

Terrain: Unpaved, gently rolling, with the occasional short, steep hill. Almost all the trails are on clay or muck soils, which are very prone to becoming muddy. Boardwalks cross some lowland areas.

At approximately 200 hectares, Westminster Ponds / Pond Mills Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) is the largest publicly-owned ESA in London. The ESA is significant for its size and for its great variety of natural habitats within the boundaries of a major urban center. The site is also designated as a Provincially Significant Wetland.

November – Springbank Park

Meeting Spot: 205 Wonderland Road South – Springbank Community Centre

Times: 11:00-12:00 pm

November: 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

Terrain: Paved, and flat with a few small hills this tree lined trail follows the Thames River and will have beautiful colours in fall. This will hike is an easy pace with steady ground and will allow for lots of social interaction!
