Background:

Located in the Municipality of North Middlesex, SpringRush Farm is a Conservation Easement Agreement. James Handyside and Janette Richards signed this agreement to ensure the protection of the habitats on this nature reserve. The landowners have preserved a woodlot, retired marginal farm land to natural habitat, and restored a wetland.

Description:

SpringRush Farm includes many different habitats: forests, woodlands, a meadow, a legacy apple orchard, a floodplain wetland, four agricultural fields, a dug pond, and a creek. Several species, such as Eastern Wahoo, indicate that the forest type is of high quality. This nature reserve provides diverse habitat for wildlife while maintaining valuable farm land.
