Passport to Nature: Buds and Bark

While the leaves of trees command our attention much of the year, their absence in the winter brings buds and bark into greater prominence. Dust off your snowshoes and join retired educator and tree enthusiast Bernie VanDenBelt for a leisurely mid-winter exploration of TTLT's Meadowlily Nature Preserve in southeast London. The route will include some areas often overlooked by hikers. In addition to using buds and bark for tree identification, we will watch for other wintry wonders of nature. The hike will go ahead even if there is insufficient snow.
