On June 8th join TTLT for a workshop all about invasives. The event starts with an introductory presentation on invasive species followed by a field trip to Newport Forest to help monitor and manage invasive plants. We will be focusing on two plants that are present at Newport Forest: Purple Loosestrife and Garlic Mustard. Transportation will be provided to and from the field site.
Please register below to secure your spot!
You're welcome to attend the presentation portion only - please let us know if that's the case.
What to bring
Come prepared for an outdoor, off-trail experience. TTLT will provide work gloves and all equipment.
- Proper shoes (eg. hiking shoes, rubber boots) and long pants (no shorts!) are a must. This event will take place rain or shine so come prepared with rain gear, sunscreen etc.
- The forest will be buggy at that time of year and you may encounter ticks - bring whatever insect repellent you need.
- Bring your lunch and plenty of water and snacks.
- Bring your field guides, binoculars, and camera, if you have them. Newport Forest is a beautiful spot for birding and botany.
Please note there are no washroom facilities at the field site. This will be a rustic experience!
