The Messenger explores the plight of songbirds worldwide as they navigate the many perils of our modern world. Featuring slow-motion sequences of birds in flight, the film was shot in part at London’s Western University. What might the decline of many songbirds signal for our own species? Ranging from Canada’s boreal forests to Turkey’s Mount Ararat, The Messenger balances its examination of worrisome trends with hopeful elements in a stunning work of cinematography.
