Join us for a workshop on planning your native plant garden and get some tips for pollinator friendly plants, low-maintenance landscaping, and beautiful blooms!

Winter may be upon us but it's a great time of year to start your planning and allow plenty of time for sourcing your seeds or plants. This is a drop-in style workshop where you can talk to TTLT staff and other native plant enthusiasts and experts. Goals for the workshop include:

    • Learn about plants that are great for bumblebees, hummingbirds, butterflies, or other species you want to attract
    • Learn about bloom times and plan a mix of early, mid, and late flowering plants with different flower colours
    • Share ideas and tips for making your garden waterwise and wildlife friendly
    • Get tips on where to source native plants or seeds
    • Bonus! A small selection of native seeds will be available to take home

This is a drop-in workshop between 6:30 and 8:30pm (please arrive no later than 8pm). Please RSVP below to assist with our planning.

    Stewardship Workshop: Wildflower Seeds

Milkweed_seeds.jpgAre you interested in native plants but don't know where to find seeds? Having a hard time getting native seeds to germinate and grow? Then join us for a hands-on native seed workshop and learn all about seed collecting, processing, and stratifying. This workshop will focus on native wildflowers and grasses.

    Goals for the workshop include:

    • Learn how to collect seeds of native plants
    • Participate in seed cleaning and processing
    • Learn how to stratify seeds to improve germination
    • Make seed packets with different species
    • Bonus! Take home some seeds for your native plant garden

This hands-on workshop will take place indoors at the Westminster Ponds Centre. We will have several species of seeds available for processing, stratifying, and making seed packets. Snacks will be provided!

What to bring: TTLT will provide all the seeds, supplies, and equipment. Seed cleaning can sometimes be messy so wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. If you have seeds from your own native plant garden that you're willing to share, please bring them along.

Space is limited so please RSVP below to secure your spot!
